I remember some players, particularly a player named Tomas at Dania, would run up to catch the serve in the air as soon as the server would turn to complete his serve. In singles its not necessary to cross the serve so the receiving player does not have the side wall to contend with, which makes it much easier to pick the serve, and once the receiving player has the ball up front and the serving player still in the backcourt even a bad dejada would score. Nowadays it is frowned upon by the players manager from what I have been told. Also the outside ace serve right up into the part of the wall over the players cage is not looked upon to highly. I know Benny used to be able to do that serve whenever he wanted. Asis with his power would of been a natural at it.
