Aren't all of the rules unwritten? lol. I've never seen or
heard of a jai alai rule book. Each fronton seems to interpret
any rules to jai alai their own way also. In Dania you can touch
the fence while running down a shot but Miami you cant.
The serve in jai alai also seems to be a big area of contention
as far as rules go. In singles I used to see players run up and
catch the serve in the air and also utilize the outside serve
and put it up over the players cage. I see a few players who "catch
and serve" now whereas the serve used to have to be one fluid
motion, in and out like a forehand rebote. I remember when Korta
first started at Dania he was the only player I ever saw turn
towards the wall as he completed his serving routine. After a
while he finally changed over and turned the same way as everyone
else. I'm not really sure why you must turn a certain way when
serving but everyone always turns towards the screen. A rule book
would sure come in handy to clarify everything.
