I don't know about the current programs, but in some of the old programs there was a rules page that often mentioned the serve. In some (possibly Dania) it said specifically that "the serve known as the carom serve is not allowed"....and other times you will see them describe a legal serve as one where the ball "hits the front wall first then lands between lines 4 and 7".....or it may say that the ball "must be served directly to the front wall" which of course makes the carom serve illegal. At least in some frontons it was actually a written rule. Usually on same page where they discuss interference, juggling, etc.
