That simulcasting wasnt the saviour or the sword for Newport.
Ask the people at Miami and Dania how much money comes through
Connecticut OTB system. Lots! Newports handle was about 30,000
on a Friday and Saturday evening with the simulcast at the end.
If you dont want to buy into the importance of handle, buy all
means it would give Hamilton alot of exposure to the rest of the
world. I dont expect that any Florida people are interested in
wagering on Hamilton, but there are plenty of us up north who,
like with Newport would have fun boosting there handle from zero.
It could be Chalk Talk wagering night at Hamilton, and we could
bet against each other, I think it would be fun.
One of the biggest mistakes IMHO of Hamilton, no simulcasting.
It wouldnt change much in Richards mind, but it could be semi
respectable. On the Citrus night they get 80,000, Newport with
simulcasting had nights close to that...
