#47 - How much can you bet without diluting the pool?

Posted on July 6, 2004 at 10:06:32 AM by Tiger

Or betting against yourself?

You're certainly not gonna plunk down $10 win bets, 'cause, for sure, you're betting against yourself. But, don't you drool when some uneducated high roller plops down $50 across the board on #2, then run to cover the others? Or, when you bet a somewhat-long trifecta, do you think "Hey, that's 3 tickets instead of 2."

Today's small pools give rise to a lot of careful thought. Just look at the pool sizes (typical Miami) relative to the number of possible outcomes:

Quiniela is really the only place where you can expect to bet without your contribution tipping the scale.
