We've all thought of ways for jai alai to garner more wagering
dollars, but let's face it...each yeat it just dwindles. The solution
for thoroughbred tracks, harness tracks and the main dog tracks
is to simulcast EVERYWHERE they can. Each year, the NYRA tracks
(horse tracks in New York, like Saratoga, Belmonte, Aqueduct)
see larger and larger pools, because they simulcast all over the
country. Yet jai alai simulcasting totally pales in comparison.
I know in some states, jai alai is illegal, but there is no need
for it to be illegal. There is a human element in all parimutuel
wagerings of this sort. There have been several instances of illegal
doping of horses or dogs. Jai alai needs to become legal across
the USA and the signal sent everywhere it possibly can. Pools
would easily double, triple, quadruple, and wagering excitement
would be attracted once again.
It absolutely amazes me to see one horse track race...just one
race...where the total wagering is $100,000! And many times, that's
the handle for just the WIN pool on ONE race!
