In the 'old days' jai-alai was quite a seductive mistress.
Only 5 months a year, only 6 frontons (I'm assuming) Miami, Dania,
Tampa, West Palm Beach, Daytona, Orlando...of course that was
35 years ago (wasn't even a teenager yet) my parents made it a
Disney World type trip asking my sister and me for two numbers
to spend 10 bucks in 5 games for a quinela that might come in.
I skipped school one day just to what it was all about and I became
enthralled. I'll never forget that sound and thought to myself
this is something I'd love to experience. I just wanted to learn
(be pro?...be good!) I think that some people lose sight of that,
'I played pro jai-alai' what does that really mean?
'soy pelotari' means more to me. If you ever have chance
look up Larry Heffer. Amateur doesn't necesarily mean inferior.
