Keying the second place team in Tris...attn Jim, Craig, Tiger...

As I posted before...I'm new to playing Tris...

Tigers question of the week..about keying the 2nd place team in exactas got me thinking...why not tri this strategy with tris? Does anyone do this? I started this trial tonight at Dania, game 1.

I picked this game (among some others) because of 3 strong teams at the 'bottom'/runout posts and a very weak top. Example:

1)Vega-Garita--Weakest frontcourt and backman is a defensive liability
2)Jaime-Echeva--Average frontcourt with very good defensive back
3)Xabat-Minte--Average frontcourt with a very weak backcourt
4)Cancio-Carvalho--Erratic frontcourt with suspect backcourt
5)Gorrono-Eibar--Strong front, very good defensive back
6)Toto-Manex--Cross off
7)Laurent-Urbieta-Hot frontcourt, steady backcourt
8)Korta-Miguel--Strong front, good back.

OK...so I figure the 2 is a great bet for place. NOt strong enough to win, but should get a few points, and the 5, 7, and 8 are all good and tough to pick just one. So I played the:
7/2/456
5/2/3478
8/2/4567

Now I lost, because Garita caught the ball and carried Vega to the place, for a 7-1-4...but...what do you tri players think of this strategy in this type of game? Am I nuts betting like this?

Thanks..looking forward to opinions from you old timers (that means you Joe!) haha
