#230 - Would we benefit from shorter seasons?

Don't get me wrong - I want all the jai-alai I can get. But, it seems it can get tiring at times.

At the 'Big 2', guys play 2,000 games a year, and it's been that way seemingly forever. Day after day, game after game. No innovation, except the yearly new bet at Dania. The march and salute gets sloppy. The website doesn't get updated. Same old, same old.

I used to anticipate the new seasons in Connecticut - just waiting to get back to it. But now, for all intents and purposes, we're playing a studio game. where tiny robot players go through the motions. Where is the excitement, the enthusiasm?

Seriously, would shorter seasons help? I know that the boleto is an important part of player compensation, so they might not want to cut back without some other adjustment. From the fronton's standpoint, fewer dates probably means less handle (all things being equal), but we're trending towards ZERO handle, anyway.

What do you think?
