i think that the frotons should have a few more in-house competitions
for the players. when i was at bridgeport, they had a "bahamas
air" single game tournament where bahamas air sponsored the
8th game singles event for a saturday night and i was lucky enough
to win it. the thing was that not that i won it, but that the guys
in the cage all played their heart out for that 1 game and we
had a good time. i remember bob b. whispering in my ear "you
lucky dawwg" when presented with the trophy. they also had
a trump hotels game where james and i lucked aout again and won
the 11th game doubles.
the point is that those games were definately heated as every
player played harder and the game took on a life of its own.
i think that the frontons should make a way for normal citizens/small
business to sponsor games and in effect offer money or trophies
on certain games which does in fact kick in the heated points
and helps take out the "robotness" of the everyday game.
yes they may seem stupid to many, but it was very exciting to be
a part of no matter which games are picked to focus on.
as far as taking away games, i say NO WAY...more is better in this
case. but i do think that the frontons should do something to help
the players be more enthused and SHOW that excitement on the court. afterall, jai
alai does mean merry festival.
