Hartford Jai alai my rookie season. Hoey drills a right side carom and I am waiting for it. The pelota hits the floor exactly where the concrete meets the wood. The pelota took a weird bounce and hit me right in the nose. The security guard took me to the hospital but Guirata the players manager picked me up at the hospital about 1am. He gets me in his caddy and tells me "Michel you dont catch the pelota with your face you catch it with your cesta" and he was dead serious no laughing or kidding. I had to have reconstructive surgery on my nose (broken twice before, car, fight)and then tried to play with a plastic visor but I hated the glare, so I learned not to use my face to catch the ball.
