I think I like it !! It would totally spread things out a little more, and not have the #1 & #2 be so 'top heavy'. ( Maybe higher payouts ? ) You know, American Harness Racing has adopted the staggered starting gate and the passing lane, and when I went to Sweden, their harness racing had 'tiers' ( 5 poor ones in front,and 5 in the back. These things were shown to improve payouts somewhat, by making the races more balanced. Neat stuff.
