I was introduced to the game and initially coached in the nuances
by Doug Miller, now a CAJA player. At the time (ca 1977), we both
worked for a software & consulting company in Norwalk, CT.
That was where I started my jai-alai computer work.
My first project was to tally finishes and payoffs for Bridgeport's
first 4,030 games. I used the monthly chart books to do this -
still have 'em.
Anyway, Doug used to get guys from work to go to BPT. I guess
I knew at the time that he played at Milford Amateur, but I didn't
realize he had been involved in its setup, even arranging some
of the investment.
Thanks, Doug. There probably wouldn't be any Chalk Talk without you.
