Back in the day at Orlando you could have made some money by leaving certain early game players off all your bets in the evening performance of a doubleheader....because certain guys enjoyed a "liquid" dinner after the matinee. Killing time in between performances seem to lead to the beverages flowing somewhere....then I would see them chewing a lot of gum when they returned. As the ballboy I stood in the spot where the "on deck" players wait to go on next....and being that close to them could easily tell that they hadn't been drinking Pepsi with their meal! Of course some guys did it so much they didn't necessarily play worse....maybe better and more loose. But I will take a sober pelotari any day if betting. The judges weren't always as sharp after the matinee either. One time it got to the point where the backcourt judge had to be removed because he couldn't stand up straight. The ball could have bounced three times and he wouldn't have blown the whistle...
