In my opinion, the perfecta wager was CRUSHED when dollar wagers on the perfectas were allowed. At first, you could get good pay-offs, before it all caught on. Now, everyone wagers dollar everything, and the perfecta wager took a big hit in the end. A lot of dog tracks don't even offer it anymore. Ocala doesn't. Orlando's just barely survives, but only with a good crowd. I often wonder if "they" realize dollar wagering wasn't necessarily good for everything. People who bet the perfectas saw what was happening and just stopped betting it, or don't do it as much as they used to.
