Of course they do care. If the sub is a young prospect or a rookie, it's a chance to shine, and if they do well,t he players manager woul'd have them in mind for whenever he needs somebody to fill a spot in the later games. And with that,you may expect a salary raise for the next year, [not always, but i have seen that happen]. On the other hand if its a veteran, he is going to try for three different reasons, first because it's an oportunity to make some more money. Second, because he has to, out of respect for his partner, who is playing his regular games. And thirth and most important, because he has to defend the bettors money who not only bet, they also pay an entrance fee. And if they don't try hard, they will be called in to the office. I remember when Daniel had to play an early game as a sub [of course] or because a shortage of backcourts in Miami, he would try as if he was playing the world cup, [i will always thank him for that], so yeah they care, beleive it or not.
