I think this is magnified at certain frontons, such as Orlando or even Dania, and less at Miami. Miami seems to really randomize the players into all posts, whereas at Orlando you see the weaker players in post 1 and 2 constantly. So, when post 8 gets in and scores, they often beat the weaker post 1 and 2. That leaves post 3, 4, or often 5 as the next best sensible place team if 8 runs the game out. I'd have to look at the Miami and Dania stats to see if there is much difference between them and Orlando, which I plan to do momentarily.
