I couldn't agree more...like a forehand feed, but in the case of Laucirica, he's not really a fan of the forehand, but he sure took a lot of them, as an option when he was placed in the mid games, instead of running around them. And the confidence thing...knowing you are probably better than the others you are playing against is a factor, too.
