I'll take a shot at this, although I'll probably be providing
more questions than answers. Obviously, in Spectacular 7 scoring,
the chances of a decreasing number trifecta is greater than an
increasing number, just by the way the game sets up. 4-3-2 can
be a runout number with just a playoff between the 2 and 3 as
opposed to 2-3-4, which requires a great deal of extra work. The
same goes for 5-4-3.
What I can't understand is why 4-5-6 came in the same number of
times as 6-5-4. If either the 1 or 2, 3, 4, 5 get single points
the first time through, and 6 runs it out, the teams pair off
and play off to determine place and show point. 3 serves to 4,
5 serves to the 1 or 2, and the two winners meet. So over the
course of a season, it would seem that 6-5-4 is far easier than
the reverse order. 4-5-6 is very tough and is more likely in a
9 point game. I don't know why the two combinations came out the
same number of times, perhaps a statistical anamoly.
