Re(1): #79 - How do you bet a partido?

I have a friend who is a horse player who even owns a small percentage in 2 horses. He pretty much bets just win bets and $100 a pop. (its funny on how horse pools are quite a bit larger for wins and exactas then tri's) Anyways he bets his $100, a horse goes off almost even money or maybe 2-1 and he plunks down his $100 to win. I make my comment on why take a chance on losing $100 when the odds are so low and he always will say, "Where else can you double your money in a couple of minutes?" He usually bets 1 bet a day and $100 a bet. My point here is in a partido with both teams being pretty close in skill, you have basically a 50-50 chance to win. While I understand most gamblers would never have the willpower to not bet at all for the evening and just take whatever they were going to spend that night and bet it all on their partido choice, that probably would be the smartest thing to do. Just throw down a bet on your favortite team and sit back and root. Any other bet in the night , whether it be a win bet, a quinella bet, a Tri, Exacta will not give you a 50-50 chance to win. Sure the payout would be alot more but maybe there is something to be said about putting your eggs all in one basket. Unfortunatly with the pools today in jai alai I know the "all your eggs in one basket" is probably not a reality even in a game with only win betting allowed.

On a side note, I wouldn't mind seeing an Orlando fronton, who seems to need to try something new, to have a special maybe Thursday night performance of 10 games or so but just 10 point partido's with 2 on 2. Each player plays in only 1 partido. Save Barronio for the last game, etc. 10 games of win bets but the pools are small anyways so why not. Would be interesting.
