Here's a 4-part question on subs.
1. How/why are they assigned ?
For rehabilitation
To give possible day off
Punishment (reward)
A spot for rookies
Purely random
2. How well do they do? Certainly, it depends on post position
and pairings but, discounting that, how well do subs do vis-a-vis
the regular entries? They should be prepared, usually knowing
days ahead when they will be playing.
3. Why does one player sometimes get set up to sub 3 or more times,
and wind up having to play 8 or 9 games?
4. If a player is late for his first game, Miami will sub for
him, then let him play the rest of his games. Do you think this
is cricket? Seems to open the "sneaky door" a crack.
