Wow, thanks for posting that chart.
I don't have a database. Wish I did. But I do have some old programs
from Tampa and Orlando that give the # of hits for all the tri's
along with the average return. So it's great to see some season
figs for other types of bets.
Anyway, the first thing I did was to take your per dollar figure
for quinielas and graph it, not against the # of hits for each
case in that season - which is somewhat random - but against the
sorted # of hits you would get from a simulator. That gives a
very clear picture of how well the public is (or isn't) reacting
to the bias of the scoring system.
If you ever have the time to do other seasons, that would be great.
