I never said there should be no betting. Just there is more to jai-alai than betting. The best late game players that were always in the 5,6,7 were also the players with the highest salaries. So they did make more money...for being the best. And they only stayed in those posts if their win and ITM percentages stayed high. If they went to below average stats then they got some easier posts. That's how it worked. I'm sure some didn't like missing out on the easy posts....but with the tradition of the matchmaking and the way things were back then....many late game players saw being given the tough posts as a badge of honor.
