With Rocco starting at Dania and like most rookies lately the
phrases that seem to be used are mostly like (he should be able
to hang with the guys) or (he should be able to hold his own).
It got me thinking, who were some of the most hyped up rookies
. There names use to be announced ahead of time in the local papers.
I remember with Alberdi was coming to Ct (I think he was barely
17 years old) and Unanue (spelling) was coming over with him.
Paper touted Alberdi as if he was already a star.
Who had in the past a fantastic rookie season even if they were
not touted as a future star. Maybe they had a great rookie season
and were just 1 or 2 year wonders (like Joe Charbonneau of the
Indians), maybe injury stopped them, or maybe they went on to
be bonafide stars. Any players that come to mind that had unbelievable
rookie seasons? From day 1 stepped on the court and stayed hot
til seasons end?? thanks\
