Ok...looking at the attendance figures...time to adjust the schedule??
I would start by getting rid of the Friday Matinee. The attendance
is low..so that performance could be better served elsewere. I'm
thinking Monday evening. Maybe its not one of the busier days,
but Monday there is no Dania, so chances are the simulcast betting
would increase over what they are getting on Friday Matinee. In
Fact, if they didn't want do to a performance on Monday, they
could still switch that lousy Friday Matinee with a Thursday evening.
This area isn't Miami. People aren't scared to drive there
at night. So I think evenings just make more sense. I actually
also think that they would do more business on Thursday night
instead of Wednesday night. Its later on in the week..chances
are people will want to start their weekend early!
Anyways, I don't see the harm in a few more performances...with
these changes:
Monday Evening--make this a "light" performance,
with 8 games, 3 singles and 5 doubles, mixture of players. Only
2 superfecta games, the last singles and doubles games.
Tuesday-- Dark
Wednesday Evening--Dark
Thursday Evening--normal performance
Friday Evening--normal performance
Saturday Double-header--normal performances
Sunday Matinee. Normal performance
..with a double-header once a month. I advertise that monthly
Sunday evening performace as a "Special Performance".
It would remain a 12-game performance. It would be as follows:
Game 1-the 8 guys who did the best in games 1 and 5 in the
previous weeks would all play this game, with a double-prize money
incentive to the winner.
Game 2-3...the players with the best stats of the weeks that
played in doubles games 2,3,4,6 compete in these games.
Game 4..."Championship Early Doubles"...this is for
double prize money for the winner. This game post positions are
determined in order of the stats, with the best guys in the 1.
Game 5...Early Triples...Triples game feauring the players
from games 2,3,4,6
Game 6...best of early players and late players, battling it
out to show who really are the late gamers?
Game 7.Championship Singles...same format as game 1, double
prize money for winner, featuring the best guys that played in
singles games 9 and 12.
Game 8,9...doubles games with the best players of last weeks,
games 7-12.
Game 10...late-game triples. Featuring the best of games 9-12
playing triples.
Game 11---atomic quinella...here is a game where players are
playing on the reverse..with backcourters showing their rebotes
and frontcourters showing their power to the frontcourt. This
is a voluntary game with the late gamers getting first dibs. Some
may not want to play out of position so I wouldn't make them.
Game 12---Championship Doubles...playing for double prize money
for the winner.
OK So I am crazy for these suggestions probably...but I sure
would like to see something like this once in a while. Give us
some special performances like Milford used to. Like the night
for Mark Boornazian or the Zabala/Badiola retirement performance.
