I have to disagree with you Bada. The expectation is that players give full effort to win the point every time they are on the court. If they don't...for any reason....then they are breaking the rules. This includes losing a point to lock up a place or show. It is hard to prove that they didn't give full effort of course. But a player who throws a wild shot in the pad that is clearly intentional can be subject to a fine. And they should be.
