Players pooling their prize money? That didn't occur at any frontons I played at. The only time we pooled all our money together was each year for the Jerry Lewis MS telethon. It was an annual tradition for the players to agree to donate the prize money from a combined Saturday matinee and night performance. I thought it was great...but I can tell you that there were always a couple of miserly players who pinched pennies and weren't keen on doing it.
