It was my first year at Newport, hit above the eye with an
errant rebote attempt.
I could hear some in the crowd yelling "get up, that didn't
hurt". When I did get up, they saw my face covered with blood.
Got silent after that.
I needed several stitches and was brought back to the fronton.
I said "I will be ready to play tomorrow". Ramon told
me "oh, no. You will scratch for a week." Damn, no boleto.
Besides that, several bumps and bruises along the way, but that
is part of the game.
What is surprising is after all those years and hours of court
time at the Milford amateur jai-alai that I didn't get hurt a
lot more. lol
