In my opinion, back in the day, you didn't have quite the aggressive play in the backcourt as you do today. So many backcourters at Miami have very good forehands or know how to catch and return well off both sides. It seems to me, in the jai alai glory days, not many backcourters really had the forehand return down. Some, but not as many. Also, the over-use of kill shots in today's game is pretty ridiculous. It used to be a cortada was a rare thing to see. Now you see it 60 times a performance. Back then, the pelota was placed better along the wall than in today's game, allowing for so many more cortadas and kill attempts in today's game, than in yesteryear's game.
