I see what you're getting at, Craig, but we're not there yet.
If the jai-alai betting world was larger and more active, it could
get to be like day trading in the stock markets, where tens of
thousands of computers are watching, waiting to issue trade orders
according to their own 'black box' formulas. In fact, the stock
markets have even had to put in 'circuit breaker' rules which
come into play when all the market-watching computers say "Sell"
at the same time.
You're correct, if there were a bunch of 'smart' computers, all
watching the jai-alai betting, things could get analyzed/refined/reprocessed
to such an extent that everything would wind up near the takeout-recapture
threshhold. Hopefully, I'll be pushing up daisies by then.
But, hey, there can't be more than a handful of us in the jai-alai
world who look at things this way and have the combination of
jai-alai savvy and analysis/computer skills to pull it off.
Still, I remember how the system bettors used to come out on forced-payout
Pick-6 nights, so they're never too far away
