I was so very fortunate to have been a part of the 1st and 2nd classes of the Bridgeport Jai-Alai School that was initiated by Player's Manager Ricardo Sotil, and taught by Orbegozo, Echano and Azpiri in '77 & '78. I remember there were 300 kids who tried out and of those, only 60 of us (20%) made the cut. I came up with Jose Egurbide, Jr., Jorge Sotil, Bob Rasmussen, Roger Bauer, Bucci, Weef, and others. I can still hear Orbegozo yelling "Go front! Go front!! Make dee booom!!!" (i.e., Catch it in the air). Those were special times for jai-alai indeed. Many of us didn't have a means of comparison in those days and just assumed every professional roster was that deep and that talented. What a privilege.
