I too have a story to tell involving the 618. About 20 years
ago at Miami I had compiled a list of trifecta numbers that were
DUE......yes Tiger, I said DUE. My
list had 16 different combinations on it and as I arrived in time
for game 1 which was a singles game. I bet a $2 straight trifecta
on each combination. The teller said I was crazy to play such
hard combos and was wasting my $32. Game 1 began with the 1 scoring
6 straight points but then lost on game point to the 8. The 8
went to 5 points and lost on game point. All the remaining teams
that got up after that scored a double point each and when the
6 got up he went from zero to hero winning the game. 618 without
a playoff.......returned $1736 for the $2 ticket. This was the
biggest one I ever hit.......unfortunately I got taxed for 20%
at the IRS window but got it back at the end of the year
.
