Okay....I'll bite.
I have one view on this issue for singles and another for doubles.
In singles, I don't think it matters much whether it's early games
or late, but when you have a player in the 7 or 8 hole who is
by far the best singles player in the game, and much weaker players
in posts 1, 2 and 3, that to me is a runout waiting to happen.
In doubles, if you have a dominant frontcourt player in the late
games, like Goikoetxea at Miami or Erik at Dania, in the 7 or
8, and the lineup is such that he will face much weaker players
for enough points to run out the game, that's a runout waiting
to happen. In the early games, though, I'm never really confident
of a runout waiting to happen, because even if you have one front
who is head and shoulders above the rest, the early game backcourters
aren't as solid as the late game backs. In the lates, you can
usually count on the backs to make the plays and keep the points
alive for the dominant front to eventually put away, but in the
earlies, the backs will make more mistakes.
