I think we are thinking along the same lines. My views include:

1) I put in a lot and got called. I have the nuts...and I have a live one. Maybe he has a good hand too. My previous high bet amount and a call would influence how much I bet....if he thinks he is good then maybe I can get more out of him. My prior large bet gave me that info. Had I bet small before and was sitting on the nuts still then maybe I won't bet big next time since that may scare him off. Now I feel confident about betting more and getting paid off.

2) I put in a lot and got called. I was on a bluff. My only chance now to win is to get him to fold. My prior bet influences my next bet....if I want him to fold then I probably need to bet real big....the info I got from my prior bet tells me a small to medium bet on my part gets called and I am throwing good money after bad....but maybe a big bet takes it. Or I just accept defeat with no more at risk.

It goes on....but you get the idea. My previous bet 'bought' me info so to speak. If it was a big bet then that tells me something based on what my opponent did. A small bet on my part and then a call by him gives me little to no info. So I say that my prior bet....while in the pot now....is still going to have a big impact on what I may do next, especially how much I bet if I am doing that.
