Your question assumes that the reader was, at some point, a big winner during a performance.....lol.

I may bet a little more when I'm way ahead, but not a lot more. And when I'm way ahead, I always set a stop point. As an example, if I hit a trifecta and I'm ahead $278, I'll probably play with the $78 and go home a $200 winner if I don't cash another ticket.

Actually, the one time when I was furthest ahead, I didn't have the chance to reinvest any of my winnings, because I hit a $1500+ trifecta in the last game of the performance.
