I think a young early game player who starts dominating the earlies almost has to be moved up in class. A few more factors may weigh in the other way around. Many years ago at Palm Beach, a veteran late game player named Legarcegui suffered a major knee injury which eventually necessitated a move back to early games late in his career. Saw him at Newport and his mobility seemed limited. Age, of course, can be a factor. Disciplinary or political is a maybe, maybe not - not sure. My guess is that a player would take a drop-down if it would extend his playing career - otherwise they might not be too keen about it.
