Almost true. Here it is. You had made just one earlier on 5/21 re: tournament play.

And, from Chalk Talk, a high cesta to 'Pops'

The setting is Miami Jai Alai circa 1981 and I am an 10 year old kid waiting outside the fronton in our AMC Concord while my grandfather walks into the advance betting trailer that used to be adjacent to the building on the south side...he puts in his numbers - a 2-4-5 box for all games and we drive away...years later, around 1987, the same AMC Concord is now my ride with the stipulation that saturday afternoons I drive my grandfather down to the fronton only now i'm allowed in...that's when it happened for me...this game - an awe inspiring combination of grace and speed was intoduced to me...watching players like Soroa, Asis, Zarria, Kent, Jackie, Michelena and my favorite - a lanky frontcourter named Benny...the crowds were big and the taunts and screams were non stop...some guys yelling at Peralta to go on a diet or calling Guernica a "payaso", the woman behind us yelling "BOTA!" every time the ball headed toward the team she didn't need...those were the days when I all i cared about was saturday afternoon. when my grandfather treated me like a man. sharing a cuban coffee with me and even sneaking a sip or two of his beer. when the 2-4-5 was all i knew and how good it felt to spend those days together...my grandfather passed away years ago today and i thank god for those days...so 'pops' the 2-4-5 is in for the day...maybe we'll catch one...
