I love this question, because, ironically, post 4 is my absolute
favorite post to play trifectas on. Craig is bascially correct
in how I like to wager: I always play teams I on top of the trifecta,
followed by every place position, and then all of the 'sensible'
shows spots--more or less. In my wagering off of a 4, and yes,
I know some of the combos are tough, but not at all impractical,
it would be as follows:
4/123/all
4/5/1238
4/67/123
4/8/1235
It's a $32.00 bet, and I leave off all the 'isane' numbers,
like 4-6-7, 4-7-8, etc. The reason post 4 is my favorite, because
more often than not, if post 5, 6, 7 or 8 place, and whoever shows,
you get a really good payoff. Not all the time, but more often
than not.
My least favorite to wager off of...the 3 or the 6. Seems about
75% of the time when post 3 wins, no matter how long the game,
post 1 or 2 place, and then whatever shows for a routine payoff.
