Well in South Florida the slot rules require (at least for now) that Miami and Dania each run 150 live performances per year to have the slots. So that is about 5 months or so. What I think is possible and even likely is that once they are both up and running with slots they could each reduce their seasons to the minimum of 150.....and along the way move to a shared roster with split dates. That would just make sense from a business standpoint. So Miami runs 5 months then the players get a two month break, which gives the stars a chance to return to the Basque country for partido season....then Dania runs their 5 months. And with a shared roster they could have all the best players competing against each other....maybe with some extra boleto at stake from the slot money. And the players who get displaced because of this could easily wind up at the other smaller frontons. Not a great deal for them....but overall I think not such a bad worst case scenario for jai-alai in South Florida. It may just result in larger crowds too. But this all assumes the '150 live' rule stays in effect....and the dog tracks are actively working towards removing their live race requirement.....jai-alai really needs representatives lobbying to keep the live requirement. But I do not think anyone is doing that at all right now....so we will see.....
