I remember the Bridgeport frontcourt Arrieta, he played late games, pretty good player to even be on the court with Egurbi, Ondarres, Castro, Bereicua, Lecube, etc.
I also remember the Milford backman called Arrieta, awesome arm.....but I hated betting on him. He wasn't a very smart player, very wild. I've seen him throw over the upper boundary on the front wall many times, hit the overhead screen, etc. many times.
In singles he often threw too hard, giving his opponnet a nice rebote way up towards front court. He could have been a lot better, he won his fair share of points on talent (not brains). I used to think he was the Arrieta now in Florida (I always thought of him as young and wild), but I learned he is not some time ago. I haven't seen pro jai alai since Milford failed. I prefer a smart backman like a Churruca to a wild guy. Chasio from Bpt was like arrieta.
Is the Milford Arrieta related to the others? I think that Arrieta could have been great if he had brains. How long did he play ?
The Arrieta thing is current since there is a MLB pitcher with that name now. Jake Arrieta , I believe....I don't think he is very good, or Basque.
