This is a great question. I have strongly felt, for I don't know how long, that so many backcourters, if not all, play to the level of their frontcourter. I mean how many times have we seen a weak or decent backcourter out of nowhere catch everything in sight, when they get Goiko as their partner? The same point with a weaker front, and the ball was tipped 20 catches earlier. I know I'm exaggerating on that, but you catch my drift. Sure, there are those times when a front runs the game and controls everything, but I'm talking when the backcourter just outplays his own level on a normal basis. I used to see this SOOOOO much at Orlando with Barronio and any backcourter, and it was really aggravating to know these players can really do so much more when they are motivated. In summary, I think MOTIVATION is HUGE in this sport.
