Re(1): Week #374 - Dania & Miami slots: Business as usual?

You will have to forgive me. I am going on another rant.

I don't like dog racing and I can't remember where exactly where we were (in this post). Somewhere between Fort Lauderdale and Miami, my cousin Matt and my best friend Chris A and I went to a dog track/casino in between performances of Dania and Miami. I liked being outdoors at night in the cool Florida air (it was November so it was really warm to me) watching the dogs and betting (begrugingly on animals that all looked alike). Inside there were table games and slots. I am a snob and I am used to Connecticut Casinos so I compared this place to them which really isn't a good comparison. The place was nice (OK really) but nothing compared to CT. There were a lot of people there doing whatever they wanted to do. I don't know if Dania Jai Alai (which is my heaven on earth since Milford is gone) can really compete with this place of another type of place like this since it did seem like this place was 'classier' than Dania. Forget about the comparison to the Miami facility. It offered what bettors wanted today, a quick fix on a mindless game that anyone can play. Fortunately, Jai alai is not this. Unfortunately, people have gone away because they just plain old don't understand it and make ridiculous excuses as to why they lost their bet or saying that it's fixed. Maybe all we need is for people to realize just how stupid slots, video poker or other table games are and come back to another pari-mutual betting sport where you actually have a chance to win money. I think Connecticut is recognizing that now with the lower casino revenues but they have a pretty good exuse for that in blaming the economy or many other money-sucking casinos being built to support the stupid people who go there.
