I see it as a simple case of diminishing returns. Right now - as in the last decade or so - an interfronton tournament (Citrus excepted) gets a very limited anount of pop. But make it regular and it would end up as just another performance.
Same thing for the partido lovers - regular partidos would quickly end up with no extra drawing power at all.
