I would think it would depend on the mindset of the player. I'm sure some greenhorns ooze confidence right out of the box while others play with more trepidation.
In baseball, the '2nd time around' is when batters get familiar with pitchers. I think that after 2 or 3 times playing each player in the earlies should be ample time.
