A high percentage of 2nds and 3rds could mean they lack a winning edge (which can also be a bad indicator for getting more 2nds and 3rds). But, if their total in-the-money rate is high, you may have a point.
If you're watching the games and you can 'see' that they're
'just missing', that's a good sign. Just don't tell me they're
'due' because they haven't done anything lately. If they're
cold, they'll stay cold. Until they're not
