It's tough to fix , but not impossible.

I fully understand parimutual wagering.

You'd need to attack the trifecta pool, and hopefully pull out something tough like 5-7-6.

Pulling a specific result would need all 16 players in on it, and the judges, plus some cohort to make the bet...and hope they have the only ticket on it !

This would be very tough to pull off for a specific number with all 16 players and 3 judges in on it, can't be having a lot of 6-8-7 tris either ! That might not even get you the whole tri pool, split 20+ ways ! some dipshit would box 678 for tri

Even knowing 2 numbers (players/teams) are trying to lose isn't enough to beat the nearly 20% vig.

You could have a singles game, and know #2 and 4 will lay down.

#1 overserves, point to #2

#3 overserves to #4

now two of your bought players have accidental points, and #5 runs out, for 5/432.

There's no money in the tri pool to begin with (for one thing), you can't fix games to come out with results like 3-7-6 very often, you;d need everybody in on it....

there just isn't enough money to go around, certainly not now, rarely back then.

it's not 1977 (or whatever) anymore !
