Till 1967-68 season Miami played all straight pt games every performance. All 11 games were straight pts. The 11th game had to start before midnight under state law. So it went:

1st game singles...8 players...5 straight pts
2nd, 3rd, 4th game doubles...8 teams...5 straight pts
5th game doubles...6 teams...5 straight pts
6th game singles...8 players...5 straight pts
7th, 8th game doubles...6 teams...5 straight pts
9th game singles championship...7 players!...6 straight pts
10th game doubles...6 teams...5 straight points
11th game doubles championship...8 teams...7 straight pts

When I started in Miami 1968-69 the games changed a little but we still had to get the 11th game started by midnight. So it went like this:

1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th game doubles...8 teams...5 straight pts
5th game doubles...8 teams...spectacular 7 to 7pts
6th game singles...8 players...5 straight pts
7th game doubles...6 teams...5 straight pts
8th game doubles...8 teams...spectacular 7 to 7 pts
9th game singles championship...7 players!...6 straight pts
10th game doubles...8 teams...spectacular 7 to 7 pts
11th game doubles championship...8 teams...7 straight pts

The 7th game featuring 6 teams was truly the best players on the roster playing against each other. It was always great action...usually always better than the featured 11th game doubles championship which in 1969-70 was changed to the 12th game championship...but there was still more straight pt games than spectacular 7. And the 12th game had to start by midnight. There were quite a few nights where Pedro Mir would be yelling at us to hurry up and serve!!!
