Last time I checked....

Frontons are in business to make money. I find it to be a little naive to think they just sit idle and hope for the Jai-alai fairy to magically whisk the game back to a different time and place. Last time I checked HOPE wasn't a strategy in business. If you owned the business and you were good at it you would look at every possibility to make more profit. However, the gross revenue is chopped by %s for expenses.(what do you think the AC bill is right now at (Dania), I would venture to say a min of 20k a month, what do you think they pay on rent, or taxes, R & M?? I really feel the jai-alai's are doing all they can in lieu of the cash flow problem they are enduring. They seem to be riding out the storm, if Jai-alai comes back GREAT!, but what happens if it doesn't ...should they sit idle and not fight for their interests? They have boards, investors that they have to answer to. I think for the amount of revenue Jai-alai takes in, I think they are doing the best they can ....by trying to maintain buildings that are very old, continuing to keep the best players available on their rosters, and staging more intra fronton tournaments that still draw fans. I have said it before until Jai-Alai gets a shot in a different state, I really cant see much more happening here in fla, In 1985 Howard Kalik told anyone who would listen that Jai-alai was finished, almost 25 years later the doom & gloom continues. If jai-alai were to fold up you could still see it played in Spain, and at a better level.
