I think some focus should be placed on the fact that in order for jai alai to survive in the first place, we literally need gamblers willing to wager. Sure, the player pool has dwindled in response to downward trend of the sport, but you put on a tournament, and amazingly, people show up, even in the horrendously and economically depressed times.
My love of the sport has not waned. My wallet has, and as a result of this economy, I've had to cut wagering down considerably. I've not made a jai alai wager since the Ocala tourney in late April, and this is the longest I've ever gone without wagering. And as I have said, ALL gambling venues are suffering. Just look at Vegas. Stalled out.
