Bracket-style 15-point partido doubles tournament.
Teams based on ITM%, for example:
#16 ITM Frontcourter with #1 ITM Backcourter
#15 ITM Frontcourter with #2 ITM Backcourter
and so on...
The goal would be to give fans exposure to the traditional partido style and tournament play with some new teams besides the traditional Goikostorza, Rekalde/Lopez, etc.
The theme is May Madness (like March Madness)
Promotions are done in the program, over the PA system, and on the radio in advance inviting people to come to the website and fill out their brackets to win a grand prize ($$$$$$$).
You can charge a small entry fee for each bracket filled out and draw in some win betting handle on each game. Also, you can make people register on the website to get together a mailing list for future promotions, similar to what Dania does with their monthly mailer.
Success will be measured on the number of brackets entered, attendance to the tournament nights, and also the player reaction as 32 players would get to be a part of the tournament atmosphere and have a shot at the grand prize. I'm sure the guys in the locker room like to break up their monotonous schedule every now and then.
Writing this up has got me interested, so here are what the teams would be for Miami's first round:
1. Goiko/Patrick
16. Cavier/Lopez
8. Tevin/Santiso
9. Jabi/Aldazabal
4. Christophe/Alejandro
13. Aitzol/Cisneros
5. Aritz/Fernandez
12. Aragues/Girard
2. Benat/Conrado
15. Bereikua/Irastorza
7. Tico/Elizalde
10. Zinkunegi/Erkiaga
3. Patxi/Manuel
14. Aizarna/Zuri
6. Rekalde/Ricky
11. Arrasate/Chauderon
That looks like a pretty interesting lineup to me. I'd take the 15. over the 1. in the final.
Anyway, as a graduate from UM's marketing dept., that is my promotional idea. HAHA
